Are you tired of feeling like no one understands what you are going through?
✽
Are you frustrated that other people think you should have
gotten over "this" already?
✽ ✽ ✽
If this describes how you are feeling, then you have come to the right place.
✽ ✽ ✽ ✽ ✽ ✽
Therapy works when we work together.
We'll use my clinical skills and experience in working with grief, loss, trauma and chronic illness, along with research-based tools like EMDR, EFT, clinical hypnotherapy, yoga and mindfulness so that, together, we can get you back on track again.
I believe that therapy is a partnership and change only happens when we are working as a team. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion while offering support and education so my clients develop effective individualized coping strategies. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you on this journey.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker helping individuals and families cope with grief and loss, trauma and chronic and terminal illness. I have helped my clients address a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems and career challenges.
I received my PhD and Masters in Social Work from Adelphi University. My BS in Human Development is from Cornell University. I have advanced training in EMDR, EFT, Clinical hypnotherapy, Complicated Grief Treatment, and Mindful Self-Compassion. I have worked extensively in the field of end of life care, hospice, and bereavement as well as teaching as adjunct faculty at LIU-Post, CUNY York and Adelphi University. In addition to my published dissertation, my work has appeared in the journals Groupwork and Social Work With Groups.
Don't Give Up Hope! You can feel better!
When we work together, individually or in a group we can help you to:
✽ Learn ways to cope with difficult emotions
✽ Understand and manage triggering events
✽ Discover resources for managing pain and discomfort
✽ Resolve Complicated Grief
✽ Find purpose and meaning in life again.
In order to start the the healing process, the most important thing to remember is:
Trauma is not about what is WRONG with you.
It is about what HAPPENED TO you.
Coping with the challenges of living with chronic illness takes a whole toolbox full of tools. Some of these are letting go of blame, separating yourself from your illness, understanding and accepting limitations and managing your energy budget to maximize the quality of your life. But you don't need to do this alone. I can help you build the emotional resilience necessary to navigate the challenges of chronic illness.
